About Me

I’m Tanner. A normal guy that loves playing fantasy baseball and learning ways to improve at the game.  I’m not an expert.  I’m just trying to share helpful information and tools I’ve come across in my quest to better understand this game.

My goal with this site is simple – to make you a smarter, better, more knowledgeable fantasy baseball player.

Why Did I Start This Site?

There is a ton of valuable information on the web about who to pickup from the waiver wire, who’s hot, who’s not, and what future closer to speculate on.

But something is missing.  I have struggled to find information about how to better play the game.  I wanted to know how to calculate my own rankings and dollar values, how to create my own projections, how to create Excel files to help me interpret player statistics, and more.

I can find 50 articles about two start pitchers the week of June 9th.  But I can’t find three credible articles about how to evaluate a trade.

This Won’t Be For Everyone

I’m a nerd.  I love Microsoft Excel.  I love analyzing data.  Some of the things I write about be challenging and will require a lot of hard work.

But I like to think I’m a good instructional writer that can bring anyone willing to get their hands dirty along for the ride.

I also mostly focus on the rotisserie format.  Much of the tools I create and principles I write about can be translated into H2H or even daily games, but those are not my main focus.  Maybe one day I’ll be able to devote more attention to those formats, but I’ve got to stick to my bread and butter for now.

My Hope is that Every Reader of the Site Believes These Things

  • While I may listen to and read a lot of fantasy baseball advice, it’s up to me to make all decisions.  Ultimately, only I can be deeply familiar with my league rules and the rosters and tendencies of the other managers in my league.
  • Making my own decisions and performing my own research is the most challenging and rewarding way to play fantasy baseball.
  • Every good fantasy baseball player should be spending time in spreadsheets.
  • I will use data and statistics to make informed decisions.
  • I will use technology, tools, and websites to perform analysis and make decisions.
  • I’m the best person to manage my own fantasy baseball teams.

Hopefully you can see where I’m going with this. It pangs me to see people ask for advice from fantasy experts on Twitter. It’s IMPOSSIBLE and maybe even negligent to answer those questions with only 144 characters of information. To make a proper decision you need to know all sorts of things about format, league size, roster size, scoring system, quality of competition, quality of free agents, opportunity cost, and more.

I won’t make many recommendations on who you should pick up.  But I will try to show you the tips, tricks, resources, tools, and strategies that I find useful. Things you can then use to make the best decision in your situation.

I would love to be a resource for you, teach you, and answer your questions.

Even More About Me

I’m a husband.  I’m a father to two young girls and an even younger boy.  I’m an accountant by day, but I do little accounting.  I mostly build tools and train other accountants on how they can use technology to do their job faster and make their lives easier.

That’s my goal here too.  To help you become a better and smarter fantasy baseball player.
